Love Notes: A Journey Through Poetry and Music’, presented by ‘The Rickshaw Muse’ at the Bangalore International Centre, was an interesting amalgamation of poetry and music.

Artistes Pramod Shankar, Loreto Maimoni and Bar Hunka Leonard share a passion for poetry and music and that comes out pretty well in the act.
Classic songs from the past, interspersed with beautiful poetry and messages for lovers, made the act an unforgettable one.

“‘The Rickshaw Muse’ is an attempt to reach out to the lovers of poetry in a warm, |engaging and musical manner. Taking on what is perhaps a new genre, we perform original poetry composed by the three of us. The poems are accompanied by classical pieces originating from a guitar. Many have asked us why we chose the name ‘Rickshaw Muse’ and we say different things every time we are asked this question. We chose this name because rickshaw is the most grounded mode of transport,” says Pramod.

The act attempted to create a new genre where different forms of performing arts like poetry, performance, vocals and the classical guitar blend seamlessly. The end result is heartwarming and what added to the entire experience were the nostalgic songs that were rendered by Leonard.

“The ‘Rickshaw Muse’’s current offering is ‘Love Notes’, a performance that takes the audience through various nuances of love: longing, passion, togetherness and lust. The poems that reflect these nuances makes the whole experience intimate and powerful. The first poem that we will present is admiration and then go on to present poems and songs based on different facets of love,” details Loreto.

The audience thoroughly enjoyed the act and felt that they could relate to the
poems in more ways than one.

“It was a unique concept, I loved the way they fused music and poetry. Love is a subject that everyone can relate to. The poems were unique and some of them were very deep. I enjoyed the evening and would love to attend  more of their shows,” said Swati, who had come for the show.

Many others, who were at the event, said that the team did a wonderful job and were able to capture the subtle nuances of love like admiration and day dreaming in their poetry and songs. The poems were simple yet expressive and some of those that they read out were very thought-provoking.
