Bangalore: Fight over liquor ends in murder

Construction worker bludgeoned to death by namesake brother-in-law

A 34-year-old construction labourer was allegedly killed by his brother-in-law while he was asleep in an underconstruction house in LIC Colony in JP Nagar police station limits on Saturday night.

The deceased has been identified as A Pullaiah, a native of Andhra Pradesh. He was killed by D Pullaiah, his brother-in-law (sister’s husband), police said.

Both A Pullaiah and D Pullaiah were inebriated on Saturday night and the latter asked the former to give him more money for liquor, which A Pullaiah refused.

Both went to sleep after a heated argument.In the dead of night, D Pullaiah bludgeoned Pullaiah with a hollow brick.

He also made a futile attempt to kill his son ( A Pullaiah’s son). A profusely bleeding Pullaiah screamed for help which alerted the other workers sleeping at the construction site. They rushed a severely injured A Pullaiah to Nimhans where he succumbed to his injuries.

His son sustained minor injuries in the incident. Police have registered a case and are looking for Pullaiah, who is absconding Man commits suicide Two persons have allegedly committed suicide in separate incidents in the City since Saturday.

Perumal, 35, a habitual drinker, ended life by hanging himself in Malleswaram police limits after his wife refused to give him money for liqour.

 Police said that Perumal was dejected since he had no job.  His wife Jayashree, a textile showroom employee refused to give him money on Sunday morning and left for work, said police.

She found Perumal hanging from the ceiling when she returned home from work in the evening, police said.

Homemaker hangs self

In another incident, Radha, 22, a homemaker hanged herself at her residence in Kamakshipalya on Saturday night.

She was married to Ullas, who owns a mobile phone shop.  The reason for her extreme step is yet to be ascertained, police said. Cases have been at registered at Malleswaram and  Kamakshipalya police  stations, respectively.
