Discoms asked to get ready for summer

The peak power demand of Delhi is likely to break all records this summer. It is expected that the peak power demand will cross 6,000 MW a day against previous year’s 5,653 MW a day.

Delhi’s principal secretary of power department and CMD of Transco Delhi Arun Goyal on Monday reviewed the summer action plan and asked the three discoms of Delhi to make adequate arrangements for summer season.

Goyal also visited the customer care centres of discoms.

“He visited the BYPL compliance office at Minto Road and Kamla Market to take a look on the compliance mechanism. This week, he will visit various power grids and customer care centres of all the discoms to review their summer action plans and preparedness to tackle any situation in summer,” Delhi Transco’s spokesperson Rishi Raj said.

The three discoms – BSES Yamuna Pvt Ltd, BSES Rajdhani and Tata Power Delhi Distribution Ltd and the Delhi Transco has been asked to prepare an effective summer action plan which includes timely servicing of heavy transformers, grids, major lines and other technical things.
“Goyal ordered to ensure a hassle free electricity supply throughout the summer season,” Raj added.
