Delhiites in many localities will suffer over six-hour power cuts on Thursday and Friday. All three power distribution companies in Delhi have announced cuts, citing “preventive maintenance.”

The discoms informed Delhi Transco Limited that they will be conducting a “preventive maintenance” for summer, and have to cut power supply in pockets across Delhi.

“For the summer action plan, the discoms are going to resort up to seven-hour- long power cuts in many parts of the city. For most of the power cuts they have cited reason of preventive maintenance, general maintenance and cleaning,” said an official of Transco power transmission company.

BSES Yamuna Power Limited (BYPL) supplies power to east and central Delhi, BSES Rajdhani Power Limited (BRPL) to west and south Delhi, and Tata Power Delhi Distribution Limited (TPDDL) to north Delhi.

The average power cut by Reliance Infra-backed discoms BYPL and BRPL will be six hours.  The TPDDL’s will cut power supply for three hours.
