United States President Barack Obama said America has made every available resource available to find the missing Malaysian flight, including the FBI.

In an interview to local KDFW news channel from Dallas, Obama yesterday said the US has put "every resource we have available" to help in the search for a missing Malaysia Airlines jetliner.

"We want to send out our thoughts and prayers to all of the families that have been affected, but particularly our American families, who I can only imagine what they're going through with all of the uncertainty that's taken place," Obama said in response to a question.

Earlier in the day, White House Press Secretary Jay Carney said Obama has been updated regularly on the investigations related to the Malaysian plane.

"We have contributed a significant number of resources and assets to the search for the plane and to the investigation into what happened. And we're going to continue that effort," he said.

"We feel that we have a good, collaborative relationship with Malaysian authorities who are obviously taking the lead in this investigation and taking the lead in the search for the missing airplane," Carney said in response to a question.

"Our cooperation includes Department of Defence assets that have been assigned the task of assisting for the search; it includes investigative efforts by the FAA and the NTSB as well as the FBI," he said.

The Beijing-bound plane had gone missing missing under the mysterious circumstances early this month after it took off from Kuala Lumpur with 239 passengers on board.
