He was 99.<br /><br /></p>.<p>A Padma Vibhushan recipient, Khushwant Singh authored "Train to Pakistan" and "Delhi" among a dozen-odd books.<br /><br />Born in Hadali, now in Pakistan, he had, among others, served as the editor of The Illustrated Weekly of India. He was also a member of parliament from 1980 to 1986.</p>
