1,500 more polling booths in City

With as many as six lakh new voters in the City enrolling their names in the electoral rolls, the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike will set up 1,500 more polling booths during the polling to Lok Sabha elections.

The civic agency has started looking for the locations to set up polling booths following the notification issued by the Election Commission of India.

At present the City has 7,712 polling booths, which would now be increased to 9,212. 

The Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike and the district election officer have started identifying additional staff to be deployed at the new polling stations, additional funds and EVMs, Palike Special Election Officer, K R Niranjan said.

The district election officer has set a target of 75 percent polling in the City on April 17, when the voters in Karnataka will exercise their franchise.
