Last Updated 03 April 2014, 19:13 IST

BJP leaders Shahnawaz Hussain and Rajiv Pratap Rudy are among a number of politicians who have been accorded high security in view of potential threat from Maoists and others during the elections.

Hussain and Rudy will be provided Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) commandos during their movements in Bihar and other Maoist-affected states of Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Maharashtra and Jharkhand. Both have been accorded “Z” category security.

Officials said security for the two leaders has been brought under a special cover in view of Maoist threat. Intelligence inputs suggested that they could be harmed during polls.

Bahujan Samaj Party chief Mayawati's close aide Satish Chandra Mishra will be given “Z+” security. The Home Ministry recently tasked the CRPF with providing “Z” category security for Union Minister and Rajasthan PCC chief Sachin Pilot.

A number of other politicians have also been brought under security cover of the Central paramilitary forces, including Congress’ Lok Sabha candidate from Allahabad Nand Gopal Gupta, who has been given “Y” category security, which entails two armed commandos.
