It’s a Herculean task trying to find good Iranian food in the City. But those living in or passing through Koramangala should definitely stop at ‘Ayda Food Cottage’, located in Koramangala 6th Block, to try the kebabs, sheslik and other exotic dishes available.

Run by Joseph, who is well versed with the authentic Iranian cuisine as well as Indian and Chinese, the place has a friendly vibe. Quick service and delicious food are a guarantee, making it a meat lover’s paradise although vegetarians are not devoid of good options.

“This is a very suitable location for us because there are a lot of students, professionals and families living in this side of the City. Our main customer base is youngsters, who keep coming back for our kebabs and other Iranian items,” explains Joseph. The menu is so designed that in one glance, the customers decide whether they want Indian, Chinese or Iranian.

Once that’s done, it’s a matter of mix and match to see what works best for one’s taste buds. Some of the popular items in Indian and Iranian menu include paneer burji, fish kebabs, chicken and mutton kebab, sheslik, hummus with naan, mutton rogan josh, saffron rice and Zeresh pulav among others. The Chinese items too have their own specialties, ranging from the delicious Thai veg and lemongrass coconut soup to honey chicken to schezwan fish! The fried or steamed momos are another option worth trying out.

“We import a lot of the ingredients specifically from Iran to maintain their authenticity. It’s not worth altering the true flavours when we’re trying to provide the Iranian experience in Bangalore. We use a lot of special masala and prepare gravies using imported spices that taste best with this cuisine,” shares Joseph, who is proud of how the restaurant has picked up. “There are many regulars who come and eat at the restaurant and many who call for home delivery,” he adds with a smile.

Aditya, who regularly eats at the eatery, says, “I’m from Dubai and often crave for the taste of home food. When I found out that ‘Ayda’ had opened near my house, I ordered some food home and since then, I’m a loyal customer. My favourite dish is mixed kebab!”

‘Ayda’ is located at Asha Mansion, Koramangala 6th Block, Koramangala Club Road. For details, call 41627879.
