Growers resolve to keep middlemen away

Presiding over the programme Coffee Growers’ Association President A K Vasanth Gowda said that transportation of plantation workers in goods carriers and employing child labourers must be stopped immediately.

He said that contract basis must be stopped and daily wage system must be started and provide 8 hours of work for workers everyday.

The advance paid to the brokers who provide plantation workers should not exceed Rs 5,000 and when the amount is paid they must collect the photographs and documents and make payment through cheque.

Coffee Board Member D M Vijay inaugurated the convention. Sangha Vice-President Ramesh and others were present.
