Stars descend on Himachal school

 It was a starry night at prestigious Lawrence School at Sanawar in Himachal Pradesh on Sunday after several Bollywood and television stars descended on the school premises for a two-day Sanawar Celebrities Cricket League.

The exhibition match was played under floodlights installed on the school stadium and sponsored by the school’s 1985 batch Roy brothers, Rahul and Rohit to their alma mater.

The Bollywood team, called as Mumbai Heroes was captained by Sunil Shetty, while Rohit Roy was the captain of Roy Bois, the Old Students (OS) team. The match was won by the OS team by nine wickets. The Mumbai Heroes scored 192 runs after losing 7 wickets in 20 overs. 

The cine celebrities who descended included Suneil Shetty, Bobby Deol, Aftab Shivdesani, Vatsal Shethe, Jeetu Verma, Shabir Alhuwalia, Varun Badola, Shahwar Ali, Salil Ankola, Manoj Bidwai, Amrita Rychand, Nim Dausang, Barkha Bisht, Bunty Walia, Apoorva Lakhia, Pooja Bedi, Arman Kohli and Tanisha Mukherji of Big Boss fame.

Rahul Roy of Aashiqui fame along with his twin brother Rohit Roy had joined the school when they were 12. “Rohit was the driving force behind this project. We wanted to do something for the school as old Sanawarians. We were here for six years which left us with a lifelong bonding,” said Rahul. 

For Kunvar Sohal, the school Head Boy it was a memorable day as for the first time so many stars had come together to play cricket. The school bursar, P K Sharma said it was a moment of pride for the school.
