In order to create awareness about the imporance of voting, ‘Naanu Vote Madtini - Vote Spot’, a new concept-based campaign has been launched by City-based Srushti Ventures.

The spot is a small park in front of the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) head office. The area has been elaborately decorated as part of the campaign with slogans written in big bold letters. Operative from April 7 to May 17, the spot is also a platform for discussion for the entire electoral process.

BBMP Commissioner M Lakshminarayana, who inaugurated the event, said such campaigns encouraged people to vote and made them more aware of their rights and duties towards the nation. Democracy means people’s participation and only voting will mark this participation, he added.

“We want to make each vote count. Over five to six lakh people pass through this area every day and these banners will attract them, some might even stop to read a few slogans, which is the whole objective of this campaign,” Anandateertha D V from Srushti Ventures said. “The banners and inscriptions are eco-friendly and the artists have used organic colours for the same. Auto drivers, lawyers and schoolchildren have been roped in to make them.”

Thirty artists have made over 150 banners, each containing messages like “each vote counts and when is your time.” On footpaths, pedestrian shelters of coconut leaves have been raised.

“In 2013, the participation was 58 per cent and so many people voted. This year, we have kept the target participation to be 75 percent,” Anandateertha added.
