Tiwari hopes for clean sweep in seat dominated by Poorvanchalis

Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) North-East Delhi candidate Manoj Tiwari claims to have spent 20 hours a day on electioneering in his constituency.

The Bhojpuri singer-actor-turned politician said all rivals will be defeated by the  “NaMo wave”.

“There is a tremendous support for BJP’s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi not only in my constituency but across the country. The Modi wave is at its peak and wherever I visited during the election campaign, people greeted me and assured me of voting BJP to power,” he said.

He slammed the Aam Aadmi Party for making “false promises” to Delhiites and said its only motive was to cut BJP votes.

“The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) balloon created during the last Assembly elections has burst now. People have understood that it is a party which is only trying to cut the votes of BJP. It has lost its base and its cadre in Delhi,” he added.

With star campaigners like Yoga guru Baba Ramdev, yesteryear’s Bollywood star Shatrughan Sinha, cricketer-turned-politician Navjot Singh Sidhu and former bandit and `Bigg Boss’ tv show participant Seema Parihaar, Tiwari is hopeful for a victory.“No development has been done in the area in the Congress rule. People need basic amenities, better schools, hospitals and transport. And I am confident that people will vote Narendra Modi ji to power as he is the only one who can provide such development to the entire country,” he added.

Sitting Member of Parliament J P Agarwal is the Congress candidate and Anand Kumar, former Jawaharlal Nehru University professor, the AAP’s candidate from the constituency. 

With more than 40 per cent Poorvanchali population in the constituency, Tiwari, who himself is a Poorvanchali, hopes for a clean sweep.
