The Lokayukta officials caught the secretary of the Bangalore Development Authority red-handed, while she was allegedly accepting a bribe at her office on Friday.

According to sources, Rajamma Chowdareddy, secretary of BDA, demanded a bribe of Rs 10 lakh from Parvathamma and Nagendra, residents of Vaddarahalli, to clear files related to their sites.

A few years ago, the BDA had acquired the land belonging to Parvathamma and Nagendra and in turn, they were sanctioned four sites each. The file pertaining to the sites were with Rajamma and to clear them, she demanded Rs 10 lakh from the duo.

The amount was brought down to Rs 7 lakh, through ‘negotiation’. Parvathamma and Nagendra approached the Lokayukta and lodged a complaint. The Lokayukta laid a trap to nab Rajamma.

Basavaraj, who was representing the duo, went to her office on Friday evening and gave her Rs 7 lakh and the Lokayukta officials trapped her. A case under the Prevention of Corruption Act was registered against her.
