MLA emphasises preserving folk arts for future generation

 
Speaking after felicitating the artistes Lgislator N H Shivashankarreddy said the associations are promoting the folk art and literature in the region by felicitating the folk artistes. He said programmes should be held in the villages to encourage preservation of the rich heritage of culture and literature.

He said, he could not get a site sanctioned for the Kannada Sahitya Parishat because of the Supreme Court ruling that the land meant for the public places such as park, should not be allotted to any organisations.

Works have commenced on Kala Bhavana, which is being built at a cost of Rs 2 crore in memory of Dr H N. He said the programmes on art, culture, literature and sports should be held here as tribute to Dr H N.

Social worker and industrialist H R Narasingarao said we should revive and protect our glorious culture of the past.

Kannada Sahitya Parishat district unit president S V Nagarajrao, former MLA N Jyotireddy, ZP member B L Sriramareddy, Kannada Sene president S L N Ramakrishna spoke. Meritorious students  were felicitated on the occasion.
