Cab driver 'molests' girl from northeast, held

A 23-year-old cab driver from Mangammanapalya has been arrested for molesting a girl from northeastern India. 

Karthik was arrested by the Electronics City police after the girl lodged a complaint. The girl, who works as an accountant at a private firm, said Karthik had come to her flat in Doddathogur to return the debit card she had left with her friend. After handing over the card, he started pulling her close to him but her screams for help frightened him and he ran away, police said. 

The complainant said she and her friend Joseph (name changed) had hired Karthik’s cab to do go shopping on Sunday evening. They then hired the same cab to return home. The girl said she was dropped first. When Joseph reached his place and paid the cab fare, he realised his friend had left her debit card with him.

He asked Karthik if he could hand over the debit card to the girl as he knew her address. Karthik obliged and went to the girl’s flat where he allegedly molested her. The girl and his friend then lodged a police complaint, after which Karthik was arrested, a senior police officer said.
