Gritty Cottonian girls bow out in semis

Bishop Cotton Girls School, Bangalore went down 63-88 to Government Girls Senior Secondary School, Ludhiana in the semifinals of the school girls caterory in the BFI-IMG Reliance national school and basketball league at the Thyagaraj Indoor stadium here on Saturday.


They will face St Joseph’s High School from Chennai who bested Modern School, New Delhi 56-52 in a close match.

In more good news for Chennai sides, MOP Vaishnav women’s college entered the final after beating Renaissance College 109-29, while Jeppiar Institute of Technology (boys), also progressed to the summit clash by defeating Kirori Mal College, Delhi 69-46.

Results: College: Boys: Jeppiar Institute of Technology, Chennai: 69 (Shashank 26) bt Kirori Mal College, New Delhi: 46 (Aditya Raj 15).

Girls: MOP Vaishnav College, Chennai: 109 (Gomathi 29) bt Renaissance College, Indore: 29 (Akansha 12).

School: Boys: Father Agnels, Mumbai: 85 (Vaishakh 26) bt Oxford Senior Secondary School, New Delhi: 78; Senior Nav Bharti School, Ludhiana: 112 (Gurwinder 29) bt The Bhavan’s Prominent, Indore: 70 (Laxman 24).

Girls: St Joseph HS, Chennai: 56 (Devi 19) bt Modern School, New Delhi: 52 (Madhu 34); Government Girls Senior Secondary School, Ludhiana: 88 (Samriti 51) bt Bishop Cotton Girls School, Bangalore: 63 (Varshini Prasad 25).
