SpiceJet to pay fliers for flight delays, cancellations

Flight delayed by an hour? Get a Rs 500 voucher for your next travel! Low cost airline SpiceJet on Monday announced an ‘On-time Guarantee’ programme in which a flier would get a voucher if the flight is delayed for more than  60 minutes due to reasons in control of the airline.

 Similarly, passengers travelling on flights which are cancelled or delayed by over two hours will be given a voucher of Rs 1,000.  This programme covers all travellers effective from Tuesday. However, the scheme does not cover for any delay due to reasons such as weather, air traffic congestions. 

Kaneswaran Avili, Chief Commercial Officer of SpiceJet, said, “We have delivered a significant improvement in our on time performance over the last few months. This is the result of SpiceJet’s renewed focus on delivering superior customer experience.”

All redemptions can be made on spicejet.com. As soon as the flight gets delayed or cancelled the passenger will receive a message and mail indicating the redemption process.
 Sharat Dhall, President of Yatra.com, said the new scheme is a move to differentiate SpiceJet from its competitors, and a great way of drawing attention to their improved on time performance.
