Revised list of voters not displayed

Last Updated 09 December 2009, 19:27 IST

In a press note, the Vedike said, on September 11 and October 1 this year, the Palike had convened  meetings at the joint commissioner’s office of Bangalore South and BBMP head office to brief political party representatives and NGOs about the revised voters’ list prepared on the basis of the wards carved out as per delimitation exercise.

In that meeting, the BBMP officials had promised that the final draft of voters’ list will be supplied to the main political parties and copies of the same will be displayed at the respective booths of all the wards by October 17, to enable the voters to verify their names. Even two months after this assurance, neither the draft list nor the final list of voters’ list is displayed.

The Vedike office-bearers said that in the existing list, they have found that the names of many voters and also photographs of those whose names are given, are missing. In view of this, thousands of genuine voters will be deprived of their franchise rights.
