The vacation bench of the Karnataka High Court on Thursday ordered nursing and pharma colleges to pay Rs 5,000 to each student for delaying the process of sending their admission details to Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences.
Justice N K Patil passed the order while hearing a batch of petitions filed by over 100 students who had sought the court’s directions to allow them to write their exams scheduled for May 13.
The admission of first year students of BSc and MSc Nursing and Pharma students were not approved by RGUHS as their respective colleges, which had to send details of admission online by August 2013, had failed to do so.
They claimed that their servers were down and hence the delay.
Disposing of the petitions, the bench directed RGUHS to allow the students to write their exams and imposed a cost directing the colleges to pay Rs 5,000 to each student for the delay.
