CM asks officials to pull up their socks

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Friday held a meeting on drinking water supply at his house in the city.

Sounding tough, he asked the officials to take up precautionary measures to ensure that no individual is bereft of adequate water.

He also asserted that there was no dearth of funds.

He advised the officials to explore the possibilities of drawing water from river source to cater to the drinking water needs of Mysore city and also Chamundeshwari and Varuna Assembly constituencies, the regions most hit by water scarcity. 

He also instructed the authorities to check rainwater from gushing into the houses at low lying areas in Metagalli and Manchegowdanakoppal.

The related works can be planned under Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JnNURM).

In his reply, ZP CEO Gopal explained that measures had been taken to address the problems related to drinking water supply in the district, especially Chamundeshwari and Varuna Assembly constituencies, coming under ZP limits.

MLAs M K Somashekar and Vasu, ZP president K Mahadev, Joint Secretary to the CM, M Ramaiah, MUDA Commissioner S Palaiah and other officials attended the meeting.

Drought relief

In the wake of severe drought, the State government has released Rs 504 crore towards relief works, said Chief Minister Siddaramaiah here on Friday.

Speaking to the media at his residence, Siddaramaiah said measures like opening control rooms at taluk and district level have been initiated to enable people to get their complaints redressed within 24 hours.

In case of any dereliction of duty, action will be initiated against deputy commissioner and chief executive officer of respective ZP, by suspending them.

Cabinet revamp

Reacting to queries, Siddaramaiah said the cabinet will be revamped after the outcome of the results of Lok Sabha elections, on May 16.

Similarly, heads will be nominated to boards and corporations after the results. He however said that there will be no major changes in the existing set up after the results, irrespective of the outcome.
