'Sufficient seeds, fertilisers to last kharif'

Minister for Agriculture Krishna Byre Gowda has stated that the government has made all preparations to supply sufficient quantity seeds and fertilisers to the farmers for the ensuing kharif season.

Speaking with mediapersons here on Thursday, he said that measures have also been taken to check the supply of substandard quality of seeds and fertilisers. At present, around 11 lakh quintals of seeds were in the stock, he said.

“Around 22 lakh tonnes of fertilisers were required for the entire year, and we have stored around 6.5 lakh tonnes of fertilisers for this season. Vigilance squads have been formed in all the districts to check adulteration of seeds and fertilisers,” Krishna said.
