Debarred student dies of cardiac arrest

Jayashree Veerabadrappa Yali (20), a student of Government Degree College in Sulepet, was appearing for the History exam at an examination centre in Chandapur, Chincholi, when she was caught for malpractice by the special examination squad of the Gulbarga University. The final year BA student was deeply distressed by this and collapsed when she reached her home in Sulepet. It is suspected that she may have died of a cardiac arrest.

Thirty students were debarred for mass copying at the examination centre at Chinnamma Basappa Patil Degree College during the exams conducted by the Gulbarga University.

A special vigilance squad of the university paid a surprise visit to the exam centre on Friday morning and found students indulging in mass copying. Among the students debarred are 13 students from Chinnamma Basappa College, 13 students from Government Degree College in Chincholi and four students from Government Degree College in Sulepet. Shantha Ashtagi, Vidya Sagar and Chaudhari were part of the vigilance squad.
