An FIR has been lodged against some army personnel, police said.

The personnel of the army's High Altitude Warfare School (HAWS) clashed with policemen deployed at a check post outside the police station in Sonamarg, some 85 km from Srinagar, a senior police officer told IANS here.

"Yes, we have registered an FIR against some personnel of the HAWS who severely beat up three of our policemen while the policemen were discharging their routine duties at a check post in Sonamarg tourist resort," the officer said.

"The FIR has been lodged in Sonamarg police station and the policemen beaten up by the army personnel are posted at the same police station," he said.

According to reports, during the scuffle, some HAWS personnel also snatched the weapon of one of the policemen.
