In the wake of complaints from parents and students about pre-university colleges flouting admission norms and collecting hefty fees, the Department of Pre-University Education (DPUE) has warned all PU colleges in the State that they would lose their recognition if found collecting donations or flouting admission norms.

DPUE Director Rame Gowda  has given all deputy directors of PU (DDPUs) another week’s time to consolidate admission data in all the colleges in their respective districts and to submit the same to the DPUE.

“This donation business is nothing less than extortion. In the data consolidated, if there are any discrepancies in any of the colleges involved, their recognition will be at stake,” the director told Deccan Herald.

The department, last week, had issued a notice to all the district officers, and in spite, had not received any data about the admissions till date.

It has issued directions regarding admissions to all government, private and unaided colleges.

They have been asked to abide by the regulations published on the website and maintain rosters for admissions in the format sought by the department.

They have to display details of admission fees and students enrolled on college notice board. The same was also asked to be submitted to the DDPU office.

Even after the May 13, 2014 deadline, none of the colleges had submitted the details.
