Fight for 32 weekends

And it is creating havoc. Most big films save their releases, for is considered the big weekends like Diwali and Christmas, but seem to traditionally avoid  those that clash with exams/marriages/local festivals.

This leaves approximately 30-32 weekends for the big boys to release their films, making the stakes even higher for those slots. Production costs are also on the rise making recovery critical. But the queue only gets longer, and the crowding leads to an overkill.
