Raksha cards the best to take lead

Raksha Phadke shot the best card of the tournament so far to grab the second-round lead in the IGU-Usha Southern India Ladies and Junior Girls Amateur Golf Championship here on Wednesday.

The 19-year-old, who opened with an erratic five-over 77, resurrected her campaign with a brilliant three-under 69 to open up a one-shot lead after totaling 146 at the Karnataka Golf Association (KGA).

Overnight leader Millie Saroha (75) slipped to tied second along with Tvesa Malik (71) and Seher Atwal (72) while local lass Aditi Ashok gave herself a chance of mounting a challenge in Thursday’s final round, shooting 72 to share the sixth spot with Gauri Monga at 149.

Aniruddh in lead

Local lad Aniruddh Kedlaya stepped it a notch up to shoot into a surprise lead at the halfway stage of the IGU-Yes Bank Karnataka Juniors Golf Championship at the Eagleton Golf Resort on Wednesday.After starting the tournament with a 72, Aniruddh carded one-under 71 to hit the front at 143 in Category A&B. He holds a slender one-shot lead over Kartikey Vashist (70) and Viraj Madappa (71).
