Two people were killed, while two others, including a three-year-old boy, sustained injuries in separate road accidents in the City on Sunday.

A cab driver was killed on the spot in a road accident near Chikkajala on the Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) road in the morning.

According to police, the incident occurred at 3 am when the victim, Amarnath Reddy, 40, a resident of Shetty Nagar, was returning home from the KIA.

Reddy was speeding in a cab and lost control of the four-wheeler when he applied brakes while attempting to overtake a truck below the elevated flyover at Vidyanagar. The cab rammed the truck from behind and Reddy was killed on the spot, police said.

13-year-old killed

In another accident, a 13-year-old boy was killed on the spot, while two others sustained injuries.

Police have identified the victim as Altaf Khan, a resident of Shikaripalya and son of Miraz Khan. Altaf’s brother Irfan Khan, 17, and his three-year-old relative Arafat sustained injuries.

They were rushed to a hospital and are said to be out of danger.

The accident occurred on the elevated flyover around 10.30 am after a water tanker mowed down the two-wheeler by which the victims were travelling, police said.

They were on their way to the bus stand, to get a student bus pass for Irfan, who had joined college recently.

Irfan and the child fell down on their left side.

Altaf fell to his right and came under the front wheel of the tanker. The driver fled the spot along with the vehicle, police said.
