KEA option entry from tomorrow

Last Updated 13 June 2014, 18:02 IST

The Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) will conduct the online option entry for admission to undergraduate professional courses from June 15 to 20 as scheduled earlier.

The KEA is likely to get the seat matrices for both engineering and medical courses by Saturday, according to officials. The authority is currently conducting dummy online option entry, which will go on till June 14. The KEA executive director, Rame Gowda, said the seat matrix would be uploaded on the KEA website as and when the authority received it from the departments concerned.

On June 21, the KEA will announce the mock allotment results to give students an idea of the seats they are likely to be allotted for the options they would have entered.

On June 22 and 23, students will have an opportunity to change their options, and on June 25, the KEA will declare the real allotment results for the first round of counselling of seats. Thereafter, students will have to report to colleges before June 30.

Meanwhile, there was chaos at the NMKRV College for Women here on Thursday and Friday as some candidates thronged it, assuming that the COMEDK undergraduate counselling was commencing there on June 13. The COMEDK conducts its counselling at the college.

Parents and students, who turned up at the venue on Friday thinking it was the day of counselling, were in for a surprise as they soon realised that the process would begin a month later, on July 3.

“This is the reason we kept telling parents and students that the schedule was not final until we announced it on our website,” COMEDK chief executive A S Srikanth told Deccan Herald.

The consortium hosted the schedule on its official website on Thursday night. As per the schedule, the first round of counselling will begin on July 3. “Earlier, it was decided to complete the first round of counselling by June 25. However, the COMEDK cannot start the counselling until the KEA completes its first round. Hence we have scheduled it in July,” he added.
