Mad rush for pourakarmika applications

With Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) planning to fill 4,000 vacant posts of pourakarmikas, a steady beeline of aspirants have been beseiging the corporation head office.

Aspirants are thronging to get the application form costing Rs 20 each whose last date of submission is July 31.

The job offers a basic salary of Rs 9,600 to Rs 14,500 which has no fixed education criteria.
The last three days, officials said, 25,000 forms have been sold while queue at the sale counter is increasing.

As competition is high, many aspirants have reportedly approached public representatives to get the job.

They are lining outside the offices of ministers, MLAs and corporators for their benevolence to get the job.

A City MLA from opposition BJP said, at least 15 people have approached him seeking jobs for their men. He said he refused to entertain their plea saying his party is not in government and he never influences the recruitment process.

Despite no prescribed education qualification, graduates too have applied for the job. Some applicants, said, after graduation they had to discontinue postgraduation due to financial reasons.
