Encashing religious sentiments

However, a political party here has tried to strike at the religious sentiments of the rural voters by gifting them portraits of Gods along with some money.

The particular party has offered the portraits of Lord Manjunatha to the voters during the Council polls, thus to reap the benefits of their God-fearing attitude.

Whether these voters voted for the party is still a mystery, but it is true that they got totally surprised at the new offer.

When sought the reaction of some of the local elected representatives, they did not find anything new in the development.

Rather they justified that when large scale inducements take place in all elections, offering portraits of Gods and money to the voters is not something strange.
