Tempo mows down boy

Umakanth, son of Narasimhaiah, a driver working with the National Tuberculosis Institute, died on the spot in the mishap around 11:50 am, the police said.

The tempo driver fled immediately after the accident on the two-way stretch. The Sadashivanagar traffic police, however, have seized the vehicle and are tracking him down.

A 37-year-old mentally depressed man committed suicide by dousing himself with kerosene near his house in Jeevanbimanagar police station limits here on Saturday night.

Suresh, hailing from Tamil Nadu, was a resident of Doopanahalli.

He had become mentally depressed ever since his wife deserted him two years ago, his brother told the police.
