The J P Nagar police have registered a criminal case against BJP leader Subramanian Swamy for posting inflammatory content on social media against a particular community.

Ameen Khan and Faisal Syed, members of Mission Possible for Justice and Rights (MPJR), a human rights organisation,  had lodged a complaint against Swamy.

The complainants alleged that Swamy’s acts and the content on social media amounted to inciting disharmony between communities. He intentionally posted such content to spread violence and disharmony in the society, they added and sought action against him.

The complainants claimed that Swamy posted unwarranted comments referring to the alleged Meerut rape case even without understanding facts and ground realities. Such remarks could only widen the gulf that already exists between communities, they added.

The police booked Swamy under IPC Sections 153, 153A (spreading enmity between communities) and 295, 295A (deliberate and malicious acts intended to outrage religious feelings of any class by insulting its religion or religious beliefs).
