In a swift action, City police on Monday claimed to have solved kidnap case of a minor boy in Avalahalli police limits by arresting two youths.

Police revealed the names of the accused Prashanth (21) and Anil (26), both residents of Hancharahalli near Mandur.

Drug addicts

According to police, Prashanath,  a college dropout, and his friend Anil were drug addicts and took to crime to meet their need for money.

The duo planned to kidnap Tejus, son of a realtor Nagaraj, for a ransom after learning that  and a resident of Hancharahalli, after they got to know that Nagaraj had earned good profits in a land deal.

On August 10, Tejas was waiting for his mother near a temple. The duo came in a car, dragged the boy into the vehicle and sped away.

Ransom demanded

The kidnappers called up the realtor-father of the victim late in the night and demanded a ransom of Rs 50 lakh to release the boy, police said.

Nagaraj lodged a complaint with Avalahalli police about the kidnap of his son. Fearing action by police, the kidnappers abandoned the boy near Byapppanahalli lake on Aug 11.

Passers-by spotted the boy and handed him over to the police. Based on the description given by Tejas, the police arrested the accused, said a senior police officer.
