Last seen in Care of Footpath, a short feature film, Jayashree says theatre takes up most of her time. “I am tied up till the end of March. We have performances almost everyday, so I have not signed any movie as of now,” Jayashree told Metrolife.

Singing is also another passion for her. “If anyone wants to get into our theatre group then the first criteria is that they must be able to sing. Singing and acting go hand-in-hand in theatre. I make it a point to see that the juniors also sing songs if the play demands it,” she stressed.

Now that theatre has caught her attention does it mean that she’ll stop singing for films. “Not at all! If I am called to then I will definitely sing. I don’t differentiate between singing for theatre and movies,” she exclaimed.

The expert that she is, does she still need to rehearse before the performance. “Yes! Rehearsals are compulsory for theatre actors, how ever old you are in the profession. There are times when even we forget dialogues,” Jayashree observes.
Speaking about how effective theatre is, as a medium of communication, she says, “It is a powerful medium. People can be educated and entertained at the same time, which is why theatre needs to be popularised,” she said signing off.
