Inspector Nagaraj may face action

The probe into the torture of a youth, that led him to take his own life, is understood to have proved the allegation. 

According to a senior police officer, the 60-page report was submitted by DCP (South East) Dr Rohini Katoch Sepat to Commissioner of Police M N Reddi. 

Based on the report, it is learnt, the police may take stern action against suspended police inspector C D Nagaraj in connection with the suicide and subsequent violence in Kemegowdanagar recently. 

The police are awaiting post-mortem report and another report from Forensic Science Laboratory.

The FSL report will establish if some organs were damaged due to physical torture meted out to the victim. “I received the inquiry report by DCP (South East). I will go through the contents and recommendations made and take suitable action,” Reddi said.

The report, which contains statements of various persons and inquest report, terms the charges such as subjecting Pradeep Kumar, who hanged himself at his house in Lakshmipura, abetment to suicide and corruption true. Hence, stringent action has been recommended.

The report contains statements given by Pradeep Kumar’s father Eeranna, Nagaraj and those present in the station when Pradeep was kept in illegal detention. 

The police said there were no credible evidences to establish that Nagaraj indulged in corruption.
