There are many rules now but the reasons they get caught frequently for are for not wearing the helmet, for jumping the signal, for parking in no parking zones and for going on one-way. When they get caught for either one of these reasons, then the others follow like not having driver's license, not having insurance documents and emission test document, along with a few other essentials.

"I have ridden my bike without wearing my helmet many times near my place. It is a hassle to wear the helmet for short distances. If I get caught, then I try bargaining with the police on the amount I should pay. I tell him that I'm a college student and I don't have much money. Or else, I make up a sad story on I have only so much money and I need to survive for two days with this money. Fortunately, I have gotten away with these excuses," said Panindra, a Commerce student from MES College.
 The guys and the girls have their own fundas to use in front of the police. The girls usually tread the emotional path while the guys prefer the 'no money sir' route. The girls feel that it is easier to coax the policeman a little and he will fall for their stories, while the guys find it tougher to convince them even if their reasons were genuine.
Sripad, a student said, "I don't usually get caught when I go without a helmet or jump signals, but if I do then I guess I'll just pay the fine and leave because it will be my mistake. I try to talk them into reducing the fine but then I end up paying some amount as fine."

"My vehicle got confiscated for being parked in no parking zone and it was taken to the police station. I went there and tried asking the policeman to let go of my bike but then he was adamant. I started crying and told him that it was my birthday and that he was making me cry. He released my bike. My tears came to my rescue that day," said Amulya N, an Arts student.

Anand, a Commerce student, said that lying about a sick relative has been the excuse that worked for him. It has been tried and tested several times by many people and has shown positive results as well. "I usually make one of my relatives fall sick and push them into a hospital. I feel guilty but then with this story, it's easy to get away ," he admits.

"I once told a policeman that my grandmom is seriously ill and she needed medicines immediately, when I got caught for not wearing my helmet," said Amulya S, a PU student.

Reasons given
*  Relative is sick
*  No money
*  Cry in front of the policeman
