Fed up with some neighbours quarreling throughout the day, a 38-year-old man intervened with an aim to resolve their dispute but killed by one of the quarreling groups on Saturday.

Three persons, including a juvenile, were apprehended and slapped with charges of murder within hours of the incident.

Police said the victim was hit on his head with a stone that led to his death. The quarrel between the two groups of the victim’s neighbours began on Saturday morning.

Police said a five-year-old girl was taking a bath in the rain. The girl’s neighbour Seetaram advised her to stay away as she would fall sick.

But it made her father Rajesh and other relatives annoyed and they expressed their displeasure.

“This led to a heated exchange between families of Rajesh and Seetaram. It soon turned into a scuffle between the two groups,” a police officer told Deccan Herald.

Locals intervened and the two groups ended the fight at that time only to return some time later to continue.

Victim Ashok, employed with a plastic items manufacturing unit in the area, had happened to stay back at home that day. His family has told police that in the evening, he decided to step in and try to settle the fight after hoping through the day that it would end.

But his interference did not go down well with Rajesh and his family.

Rajesh, his minor son and brother-in-law allegedly attacked Ashok. One of them struck his head with a stone that left him badly injured. Someone informed police and Ashok was rushed to Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital where he died during treatment.

A murder case was registered with Ranhola police station and the trio was apprehended that very night.
