Unseasonal rain worries farmers

Heavy rains lashed South Kodagu on Sunday afternoon which affected the on going Girijana Samskrithika Sammelana at Thithimathi.

In paddy fields, the yields are still on the field. There is all possibility of sprouting in paddy. Owing to the shortage of labourers, plucking of Robasta coffee could not be undertaken. Moreover, in some places, coffee has been plucked and kept for drying. However, owing to the rain, the coffee which kept for drying has become wet. Owing to the heavy rains in July-August, coffee crops have been damaged. Now even after the harvest, coffee will be damaged owing to untimely rain.
