Modi supporters to initiate legal action

The supporters of Lalit Modi announced on Monday that they will take legal action against the group led by Amin Pathan after the group ousted Modi as the president of the Rajasthan Cricket Association.

Modi group led by his adviser and ousted senior vice president of RCA Mahmood Abdi convened a meeting of the district cricket associations and claimed the support of 20 associations, which according to him is a sufficient number for Modi to continue as RCA president. Abdi alleged that coup took place on directions of BCCI chairman N Srinivasan.

“This is not Pakistan and RCA is governed by laws of Miyan Musharaff. We have a sports act here and court of law. N Srinivasan is the master mind of this conspiracy and executed it with the support of people who are outsiders and had noting to do with RCA,” said Mahmood Abdi. Pathan, Shakti Singh and Mohamad Iqbal have managed the show on behalf of Srinivasan,” he added.

Pathan, meanwhie, took charge as the RCA president and said he would soon hold a meeting with the BCCI officials to lift RCA’s suspension. But the Modi faction cried foul. “There is a proper procedure of calling an AGM. Notices have to be served with clear agenda to all district associations. More than 20 associations informed us that they didn’t receive any notice,” said Abdi.

When asked about BCCI’s stand over the new executive, Abdi said that RCA is governed by sports act and not by BCCI rules. “Amin Pathan wanted his brother to be among the team selectors but court rejected his brother’s name. Immediately after taking over as the president of RCA Modi curtailed the huge TA and DA of members because funds are meant for players and cricket,” said Abdi.
