The scheme emphasises on the education of girls apart from providing all basic amenities to the schools. It offers travel allowance to those students coming from far away places. It even has provisions to open new high schools wherever required.

“The process will begin once the government approves new schools and appoints necessary staff,” DDPI Narasimhaiah told Deccan Herald.

A list of female students presently studying in IX standard has been sent to the government. The selected students will get scholarships. However, they get the amount only after they finish their pre-university education, he informed.

The government has plans to upgrade a total of 568 higher primary schools across the State into high schools from 2010-11 in order to avoid students being denied of high school education in rural areas, he said.|

The new high schools to be established in Kodagu district will not harm the existing schools in any way, he assured.
