RIL Executive Director R Ravi Mohan dead

Ravi Mohan, 52, is survived by wife Madhuralakshmi, daughter Hridaya and son Jagad.
His mortal remains were consigned to flames at the Shivaji Park crematorium in the presence of RIL Chairman Mukesh Ambani, RIL Executive Director P M S Prasad, Chief Financial Officer Alok Agarwal and Crisil Managing Director & CEO, Rupa Kudva, besides other top functionaries of RIL, Crisil and Standard & Poor's.

"We are deeply saddened by the sudden loss of Ravi Mohan. He was a keen supporter of Reliance Industries and a very dear friend. On behalf of all of us at Reliance Industries, I offer my heartfelt condolences to Ravi's family and many friends," Mukesh Ambani said in a statement.

After a stint in Crisil as Chairman, Mohan joined the Mukesh Ambani-led Reliance Industries as a Wholetime Director designated as Executive Director early this year.

Mohan, who was handling the proposed acquisition of global petrochemical major LyondellBasell Industries, was rushed to hospital after he suffered a cardiac arrest while taking a walk outside his office.

Ravi Mohan had also served as Standard & Poor's Managing Director and Regional Head for south and south-east Asia.

He is credited with building CRISIL into the largest rating, financial and business research and advisory service company in India.

Ravi Mohan was closely involved with the modernisation of Indian financial system and had been involved in critical policy assignments including as a member of the Primary Market Advisory Committee of SEBI.

Also, he was associated with Technical Advisory Committee and Financial Stability and Stern Test Assessment Committee of Reserve Bank of India and Raghuram Rajan Committee on Financial Sector Reforms.

Mohan, a Chemical Engineer, had done Advanced Management Program from Harvard Business School.
