The gang operated from outer Delhi’s Bawana. Police are checking the backgrounds of the other three arrested men.

The police team had learnt that Rajesh and his men would be come to Shahbad Dairy with a huge cache of arms and ammunition, said a source in Delhi Police. A trap was laid accordingly.

A suspicious-looking vehicle was asked to stop but its occupants allegedly opened fire on police while attempting to escape.

The police team retaliated and chased the vehicle for some distance before overtaking it and apprehending the men.

Sources said none of the occupants of the vehicle was able to escape. A search of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of arms.

Police suspect that the weapons were meant to be supplied to other criminals in outer Delhi but are interrogating the arrested men before they can come to any conclusion.
