A 13-year-old girl studying in VIII Standard, has been missing from Sharada Residential School Hostel since November 15.

Residents from Elinge near Kinnigoli, village from where she hails, staged a protest on Wednesday and attacked the college principal and staff demanding immediate action. They alleged that the school authorities were into flesh trade and human trafficking.

Speaking to reporters, the mother of the victim (Eshika Shetty), Priya alias Yasha Shekhar Shetty, who flew down from Muscat, said she had last spoken to her daughter on November 10, who had shared her happiness of winning gold medal in sports.

On November 15, when she called to speak to her daughter she got no response. Later she learnt from her relatives that her daughter was missing from the hostel.

School Principal Vidyavantha Acharya said her absence was noticed when she did not come to receive the call from her parents.  A search was launched after informing her relatives. A complaint lodged at 10.30 pm.

According to hostel chief warden the girl’s diary spoke of her crush for actor Faizal Khan. It also had a chart showing the way out from school.  The diary is in the possession of police.

The page, which carries the heading death note, mentions she was depressed and lonely, and she feels guilty of ending her life. She has accused her mother for not letting her to be part of family back at Muscat. She has appealed not to arrest anyone for her death.
