A man and his son were arrested by the police for killing an injured deer for its meat and hide at Baachenahalli in the taluk on Thursday.

Police gave the names of the two men as Shankaregowda and his son Lokesh, residents of Baachenahalli. On Thursday morning, a milk van hit a deer which was crossing the road near the village. According to the police, the driver, before fleeing the spot, told Shankregowda about the incident and suggested to him to eat the deer meat and remove its hide to destroy evidence.

The duo took the injured deer to their house and killed it. While they were skinning the animal, sub-inspector Mohit, acting on a tip, raided the house and arrested them. Six kg of meat and hide have been seized.
