AP Abhishek’s battling century in the second innings was the lone bright spot for Karnataka as they crashed to their second successive defeat in the Cooch Behar Trophy tournament here on Monday.

Resuming at 130/3 after being forced to follow on by Delhi, the hosts fared a lot better with the bat but their effort wasn’t good enough to stop the visitors from registering a 10-wicket win.

Replying to Delhi’s 378/9 declared, Karnataka could muster a paltry 157 all out in their first innings on Sunday, conceding a massive 221-run lead. Asked to follow on, Karnataka put up a vastly improved show by posting 285 all out in 92.3 overs. Abhishek was the top-scorer with 108 (211b, 18x4).  Needing 65 runs for an outright win, Delhi reached the target in 11.1 overs with all their wickets intact.

Karnataka had lost their previous match against Kerala in Mysore last week.
Brief scores: Delhi: 378/9 decl and 65/0 in 11.1 overs (Sarthak Ranjan 27 n.o., Rishab Pant 36 n.o.) bt Karnataka: 157 all out in 45.5 overs (Desmond Anthony 45, Adithya Somanna 34; Siddhant Sharma 3-48, Pranshu Vijayran 2-44, Tejas Baroka 4-15) and (following on) 285 all out in 92.3 overs (AP Abhishek 108, P Vishnu 42, Adithya Somanna 26; Siddhant Sharma 2-30, Prashnu Vijayran 5-48, Sagar Malik 2-81).
