KGF jail superintendent in Lokayukta net

The Lokayukta police on Monday arrested a jail superintendent at KGF prison red-handed while accepting a bribe to allow a visitor to meet his friend at the prison. The jail superintendent Basavaraj allegedly demanded a bottle of liquor and Rs 2,000 as bribe.

The complainant K Shashi Kumar, a resident of Urigam Pet in KGF, had visited the sub-jail in KGF to meet his friend Palani. Lokayukta police said Shashi wanted to give food box to his friend in prison.

The jail superintendent (in-charge) Basavaraj allegedly demanded bribe.

Shashi lodged a complaint with the Kolar Lokayukta police on Sunday and a trap was laid.
The police said Basavaraj was caught red-handed while accepting the bribe of Rs 2,000 from the complainant. The accused was arrested and produced before the magistrate.
He has been remanded in judicial custody, police said.
