School mate rapes class 9 student in school

A class 9 student of a school in outer Delhi’s Rohini has alleged sexual assault at knife point by a senior student. The accused class 10 student of the school in Rohini sector-9 is absconding, the police said on Wednesday.

The police said a case was filed on November 28. In her complaint, the girl told the police that the boy took her to the second floor of the school on the pretext of a meeting to discuss an important issue. He later forced himself upon her when he found the school secluded. “The incident took place on November 25,” said a police officer.

The girl is an orphan and lives with her relatives. She narrated the ordeal to her aunt, who approached the police. The girl, however, refused to undergo medical examination, and CCTV footage is also not available.

NGO workers and counsellors had tried to convince the girl, but she refused to get  examined medically, twice. This forced the police to file a case just on the basis of her statement. She also claimed that the accused threatened her with dire consequences if she reported the matter to anyone.

“The victim did not reveal anything for the first three days. Later, she broke down and narrated her ordeal to her aunt,” the officer added.

Sources said the girl had also informed the school authorities, but no action was initiated. The boy’s father is a local property dealer. “It was only after the girl lost hope from the school authorities that she and her relatives decided to approach the police,” the sources added.

The boy is absconding since the matter was reported with the police. The police believe that his parents know his whereabouts, but are not cooperating. A case under the Indian Penal Code and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act was filed with Prashant Vihar police station.
