The City police on Friday launched “Crime Prevention Month - 2014” at the office of the police commissioner.

Alok Kumar, Additional Commissioner of Police (Law and Order), who inaugurated the programme, said that as part of the programme, police and public would be sensitised to preventing crime against women and children.

“There has been a sudden rise in crime against women and children and the focus of the occasion is on preventing such crimes,” Kumar said.

He said that workshops and interactive sessions would be held at schools, colleges and garment factories. Several non-governmental organisations and government agencies would be roped in to create public awareness.
