Amjad Ali to perform at Nobel Peace Prize event

Sarod maestro Amjad Ali Khan, his sons Amaan and Ayaan Ali Khan along with Pakistani qawwali maestro Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, American singer-songwriter Steven Tyler and a bevy of international artistes will perform at the Nobel Peace Prize ceremony in Oslo, December 11, the organisers said over the weekend.

This year Indian child rights activist Kailash Satyarthi shares the Nobel Peace Prize with Pakistani teenager Malala Yousufzai who stood up to the Taliban and survived a near-fatal shooting.

And this is the reason the organisers have invited artistes from India and Pakistan to present a special blend of traditional and modern music sensibilities of the two countries and pay tribute to the laureates' homeland. "It is extremely special to us," Amaan Ali Khan
told IANS.

“Every artiste is given five minutes to perform so we would like to present something upbeat and melodic,” he added.

Amaan also shared that they would decide on what to perform during rehearsals - a day before the concert - gauge the mood and environment and would focus on producing something "with a lot of energy".

Academy Award nominated, Grammy and Golden Globe Award winning
actress and singer Queen
Latifah will host the musical celebrations.
